Markets
Follow stocks, indices, currencies and crypto with Yahoo Finance prices.
The Markets widget shows prices and their change from Yahoo Finance. It needs no API key. Prices refresh about once a minute for the day view and every fifteen minutes for longer periods; they can be delayed and are for information only.
Build the watchlist
- Open Settings → Widgets → Markets.
- Search a name: a company (Apple), an index (CAC 40), a currency (EUR/USD) or a crypto (Bitcoin).
- Pick the right result. Each one shows its kind (stock, ETF, index, currency, crypto…), its symbol and its exchange.
- Add the Markets widget to a page.
Searching by name avoids ticker mix-ups: BTC alone is a fund, while Bitcoin is BTC-USD. The watchlist is shared by every Markets widget; in a widget's settings, Symbols shown keeps All or switches to A selection.
Displays
| Display | What it shows |
|---|---|
| List | Name, symbol, curve, price and change |
| Bars | The change of each symbol from a centre line, rises in green to the right, falls in red to the left |
| Chart | One symbol with an interactive chart and the previous close; the others as chips to switch to |
| Tiles | A grid of tiles, a page at a time or in a scrolling row |
| Ticker | A tape that scrolls; it pauses under the pointer and stays still when reduced motion is requested |
Align the columns (List and Bars) gives every row the same name and price width, so curves and bars line up. The period (1D, 5D, 1M, 6M, 1Y) switches under the widget; its default is set in the widget settings.
Currency keeps Each symbol’s own currency or converts prices into one of 16 currencies (US dollar, euro, pound, Swiss franc, yen…) at the current rate. The percentage stays the market’s own.
Notes
The NasDash server queries a fixed Yahoo Finance address with the saved symbols only, and keeps results briefly so several screens do not multiply requests. Searching symbols is reserved for administrators. The public demo uses fictional symbols.
