Proxmox VE
Create a limited API token and monitor a node, VM, or LXC.
NasDash calls the Proxmox HTTPS API on port 8006. It constructs the authorization header from the Token ID and Token Secret entered separately.
Create the token
In Proxmox VE:
- Create or select a dedicated user;
- Assign them a read-only role for the required scope;
- Open Datacenter → Permissions → API Tokens;
- Add a token to this user;
- Immediately copy the secret value.
Permissions and API tokens are documented in the Proxmox VE administration guide.
NasDash fields
| Field | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| IP | PROXMOX_IP | Proxmox host reachable from NasDash |
| Port | 8006 | HTTPS API |
| Node name | pve | Exact name visible in Datacenter |
| VM/LXC ID | 104 | Optional; leave blank to monitor the node |
| Type | qemu or lxc | Required if an ID is entered |
| Token ID | nasdash@pve!monitoring | Full identifier |
| Secret | Generated value | Token secret |
For a node, NasDash also reads storage information if the token permits it. A 403 usually indicates an insufficient scope or role. The Proxmox TLS certificate must be accepted by the server environment; handle any certificate errors instead of globally disabling TLS verification.
