Jellyfin, Emby and Plex

Connect a media server to the Recently played, Recently added and Media library widgets.

The Media widgets read a Jellyfin, Emby or Plex server: who is watching what, the newest titles as posters, and what the library holds.

Connect a server

  1. Open Settings → Integrations → Media servers and choose Jellyfin, Emby or Plex.
  2. Name the connection and enter the server address (for example http://jellyfin.example.com:8096, or :32400 for Plex).
  3. Enter the key:
    • Jellyfin: Dashboard → API Keys → +.
    • Emby: Settings → Advanced → API Keys → New API Key.
    • Plex: the server owner's token (X-Plex-Token; Plex's support page Finding an authentication token shows where to read it).
  4. Turn on Accept a self-signed certificate only for a server you own that uses one, save, then test the connection.

Several servers can be saved; each widget reads the first by default and can pick another. The key travels in a header from the NasDash server only; posters and art pass through NasDash, so the browser never reaches the media server directly.

Library pictures and columns

Background pictures shows each library's newest posters (in order or shuffled) or none; Your pictures sets a picture of your own per kind (movies, series, music, books), from your wallpapers and uploaded images or a new upload. History comes from Jellyfin and Emby per account, from Plex's play history; when the server keeps the position, a bar shows how far each title got. Recently added in list display has three sizes; list widgets spread their rows in Columns once stretched (automatic, or at most 1 to 4).

Privacy

Viewers see these widgets only with the Media permission (Settings → Users and access). Account names are shown only when the widget's Show who is watching is on, to everyone who can see it. Links that open a title in the server's web app are shown to administrators only. A poster or background is served only to a widget whose answer listed it. The public demo shows generated art and invented titles.
