News feeds
Show RSS and Atom feeds as a list, headlines, cards or a magazine.
The News feeds widget reads RSS and Atom feeds through the NasDash server, keeps them for ten minutes and shows the newest articles first.
Add feeds
- Open Settings → Widgets → News feeds.
- Paste the address of a feed (
https://…/feed.xml,/rss,/atom.xml) and, optionally, a short name. - Add the News feeds widget to a page.
Feeds are saved once and shared by every News feeds widget. In a widget's settings, Feeds shown keeps All (new feeds appear by themselves) or switches to A selection. The button at the bottom of the widget dialog opens this settings page directly.
Displays
| Display | What it shows | Options |
|---|---|---|
| List | Title, source, age, optional thumbnail and summary | Articles shown, thumbnails, summaries |
| Headlines | One line per article | Articles shown |
| Cards | A grid of cards with images | Layout, cards per page, images, summaries |
| Magazine | A lead article with its image, then the others | Articles shown (lead included), lead image |
Feeds can be merged (newest first across all feeds) or shown as tabs, one per feed. A dot marks articles newer than your last visit in this browser. Each feed keeps up to 50 articles.
Cards use a grid by default, a page at a time with arrows under it; Scrolling puts them in one row that loads the next cards at its end. Set the number of cards per page with the slider.
Privacy and access
Only feeds saved by an administrator are fetched; a page visitor cannot make NasDash read another address. Visitors receive the feed titles, never their addresses, which can contain private tokens. Images are loaded by the browser without a referrer. The public demo shows fictional articles and never contacts real feeds.
If a feed fails, the widget names it and keeps showing the others. Check that the address answers from the NasDash server, not only from your browser.
